Above is a spectacular image of a young Black Foot Indian warrior.  The style is Realistic Impressionism.  I used oil and pastels and applied the paints with various palette knives.  I found that the paints patina over the silver leaf.

The Niitsitapi, also known as the Blackfoot Indians, reside in the Great Plains of Montana and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.  Only one of the Niitsitapi are called Blackfoot or Siksika. The name is said to have come from the color of the peoples’ mocassins, made of leather. They had typically dyed or painted the soles of their moccasins black. One legendary story claimed that the Siksika walked through ashes of prairie fires, which in turn colored the bottoms of their moccasins black.

Unfortunately this original painting has a good home.                                                                NOT AVAILABLE.

I learned to paint Impressionism, by way of observation.  I trained for a
year with Baroness Elena who is a teacher of  fine art and owns a collection of
vintage Russian art . The man above is a Russian Prince and collector of fine art.

COMMENTS SAID ABOUT  MOON INDIAN

Larry B. 11/16/2012         I saw Nez paint this Indian and yes he did paint it in the moons light at night. I think it may have taken him a year  it was pretty cool to see it in the day light.  One day I found it in the pool.  It survived and his paintings look better in real life.

THE RESERECTION OF A KARANKAWA INDIAN

Inspired by Damien Chapa. collector of fine art

Below is an painting in progress of a young Karankawa Indian warrior. Although this Indian tribe is extinct I am hoping to capture the magistarte of this great tribe.

The Karankawa were a heavily tattooed, pierced, and painted nomadic people. They made a strong impression on the Europeans who wrote of encounters. The men were strikingly tall, described as between six and seven feet (180–213 cm). They were tattooed and wore shell ornaments. Many greased their bodies with shark liver oil to ward off mosquitoes and other biting insects. The men pierced each nipple, as well as the bottom lip of the mouth, with small pieces of cane.
Men wore their coarse hair long–down to their waist. The Karankawa practiced head flattening.

THIS PAINTING IS IN PROGRESS AS OF 11/2012
